During our city tour, we see the Mausoleum of Vietnam's national hero Ho Chi Minh; the Palace beside the Mausoleum, built by the French during the colonial period they established on the Indochina Peninsula; the houses where Ho Chi Minh lived; and the One Pillar Pagoda, which has stood since 1049. Our next stops will be the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university and shaped by the teachings of Confucius; Lake Hoan Kiem, at the very centre of Hanoi, which was founded in 1010; and Ngoc Son Temple.
