About this experience
At the entrance to Santa Monica Pier, a sign marks the western end of Route 66. After a journey of thousands of miles, the ocean breeze, the wooden boardwalk and a Ferris wheel turning in the distance all fit into one frame. This is where the great American road story both ends and gets celebrated.
Light turns the pier warm toward sunset, which is the best hour for photographs. A light top against the ocean wind and comfortable shoes for the boardwalk are enough.
