Angkor is a vast temple complex left by the Khmer Empire, spread through forest near Siem Reap. You wander all day among stone towers, long galleries, carved walls and ruins wrapped in tree roots. It is one of Southeast Asia's greatest heritage sites.
Clothing that covers shoulders and knees is required. Bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water, as there is a lot of walking in the heat. Starting early helps you avoid the heat, and non-slip shoes suit the steps.
