About this experience
At a rehabilitation centre near Nairobi, you watch the care of baby elephants that have lost their mothers. The calves take their milk from bottles, roll in the mud and play beside their keepers. The stories told along the way explain simply why conservation matters.
Keep your distance rather than touching or feeding the calves; what the keepers explain is the most instructive part of the visit. Have your camera ready, as the young elephants move quickly in the mud. It works well with children, who can be encouraged to put questions to the keepers.
