About this experience
At Kazbegi, the Gergeti Trinity Church sits on a high slope with snow-capped Mount Kazbek rising behind it. 4x4 vehicles climb a steep, rough track, and on arrival a broad valley, the church and the mountain meet in a single view. It is one of the best known pictures in the Caucasus.
The road is bumpy, so take care if you have back or neck problems. Mountain weather turns quickly and runs cool, so dress in layers and bring closed shoes and a rain jacket. On cloudy days the summit of Kazbek may be hidden.
