MBD Travel Stuttgart Guide
More than a list of sights: a practical guide to planning the order of your trip, choosing where to stay and adapting the plan to the season.
Stuttgart Guide 2026
Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Württemberg in south-west Germany, set in a valley among hills and vineyards. As the home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, it is known for its car museums.
What to see in Stuttgart
- The Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum: two large museums telling the story of the car.
- Schlossplatz: the wide square in the city centre, around the New Palace.
- The old town and market district: a centre you can cover on foot.
- Vineyards and hills: wine slopes surround the city.
When to go
July and August average a high of 25 degrees, and summer is wet: July gets 102 millimetres and August 104. January ranges from 5 to 0 degrees. Winter is quiet, and since the museums are open all year, the season matters less.
Getting there from Turkey
In MBD tours, Stuttgart is the arrival or return stop of the Dream Triangle tours, with the days "From Stuttgart to Strasbourg" and "Stuttgart and return". The Dream Triangle programme runs 3 to 4 nights, and Stuttgart also appears in Christmas market tours. Dates and prices are on the tour page.
Who it suits
Car enthusiasts, travellers going to trade fairs or on business, and those who want to start an Alsace or Switzerland trip from Germany. It is not the main stop if you want a medieval village feel.
