Baden-Baden Guide 2026

Baden-Baden is a spa town in south-west Germany, at the edge of the Black Forest. It is known for its thermal water, and its small size and green parks make it a calm stop of a day or two.

What to see in Baden-Baden

  • Friedrichsbad and Caracalla Spa: the town's two best-known thermal baths.
  • The Kurhaus and casino: a 19th-century hall facing the spa gardens.
  • Lichtentaler Allee: a walking avenue along the Oos river.
  • The Black Forest edge: trails climbing from town into the hills.

When to go

July and August average a high of 26 degrees. It rains in every month: even February, the driest, gets 71 millimetres, and July gets 117. January averages 5 degrees by day and 0 at night, so dress in layers for a winter visit. The town also appears in Christmas market tours in November and December.

Getting there from Turkey

MBD's Dream Triangle tours stop in Baden-Baden and visit it on the same day as Heidelberg. It is a short programme of 3 to 4 nights. Dates and prices are on the tour page.

Who it suits

People who enjoy spa culture and a slow pace, couples, and older travellers. If you want nightlife and big-city energy, it will feel small.

Questions people ask

Are the thermal baths included? Bath entry depends on the programme. Check the inclusions list on the tour page.

Where can I stay? MBD lists Steigenberger Icon Europäischer Hof and Roomers Baden-Baden as 5-star hotels, and Leonardo Royal Hotel and TRIBE Baden-Baden as 4-star hotels.

Can I see it in one day? In the tours it is covered together with Heidelberg in a single day, so a short visit works.
