Düsseldorf Guide 2026

Düsseldorf is a city on the Rhine in western Germany and the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. Known for fashion, art and riverside walks, it is a modern business and shopping city close to Cologne.

What to see in Düsseldorf

  • Königsallee: the famous shopping street, running along both sides of a tree-lined canal.
  • The Altstadt (old town): a pedestrian district of bars and restaurants close to the Rhine.
  • The Rheinturm: the television tower on the riverbank, with city views from the top.
  • MedienHafen: modern architecture in the former harbour.

When to go

July and August average a high of 24 to 25 degrees. January ranges from 6 to 2 degrees. Rain falls through the year: March is the driest month with 67 millimetres, and July gets 114. From May to September the riverside is pleasant to walk.

Getting there from Turkey

In MBD tours, Düsseldorf is mostly part of the Benelux, France and Germany route. Some programmes arrive in Düsseldorf and move on to Amsterdam, and others return through Cologne and Düsseldorf. Benelux tours run 6 to 7 nights and Amsterdam tours 3 to 4 nights, leaving from Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Adana and Izmir. Dates and prices are on the tour page.

Who it suits

People who want shopping and modern city life, and those travelling along the Rhine. If you prefer a medieval feel, Heidelberg or Ghent may suit you better.
