At Yanardag near Baku, natural gas flames burn from a hillside and have done so for centuries. After dark the flame looks brighter, and the quiet hillside and the moving fire share the scene.
The breeze on the hill can be cool, so bring a thin jacket. Do not stand too close to the flames, and keep a close eye on children. The flame shows up more clearly in the evening. On a windy day the shape of the flame keeps changing.
