Authentic spice and textile shopping at Ason Market
Kathmandu · Nepal
About this experience
In the old market quarter of Kathmandu, the Ason Bazaar spreads through narrow lanes with sacks of spices, baskets of vegetables and textile stalls. Sellers offer coloured fabrics, incense and tea. It is a street market to wander slowly to feel the daily life of the old city.
The lanes can be narrow and crowded, so keep valuables in a closed bag. The ground is uneven, so choose closed shoes. Bargain politely when buying local spices and textiles. The market is livelier and the light better in the morning.
