On Phewa Lake in Pokhara, a small boat glides from the shore to the temple on an island in the water. The lake reflects the Himalayan ranges and hillsides behind. Apart from the oars and the birds, very little is heard.
Wind and sun can both be felt on the lake, so bring a hat and a light jacket. Whether the mountains show depends on weather, and views are often clearer in the morning. Keep quiet at the island temple. Chatting with the boatman is a good way to hear the lake's stories.
