At Pinnawala, in the early morning, elephants walk down to the river and bathe in the water. Watching from the bank, you see the animals let their weight go in the current and young ones playing within the herd. It is a calm scene that works well for families.
It can be hot and humid, so bring a hat, water and sun cream. Keep your distance from the animals and do not feed them.
