Mercure Avignon TGV Hotel et Spa

If you were thinking of staying here cause it says 4 stars, then stay way. This place is more akin to a best western / Ramada at best. We visited the hotel as part of a tour group. It's clear that the hotel is not operated at a level of quality I'd expect. Our rooms were very small with awkward placements of the bed and furniture. We had enough room to open exactly 1 luggage at a time. The furnishing and lights look fancy but they are only surface level, looking a bit closer you can see mold everywhere. And then there was room service -- or in other words lack of... We put up the tag requesting our room be cleaned and left a tip on the table for the service -- then left for the entire day. After we came back we still had our towels on the floor and the beds were still messy. Our family had a total of 3 rooms. 2 of the rooms had an okay view. The third room's window looked straight at a restaurant with clear view of what was happening in the room. WiFi.. is bad. I ended up using my data plan instead since it cut out so much. The breakfast is decent. It had a mix of fruits and bread (the chocolate croissant was good). But the expected level was not there.. I hope the quality of this place can improve over time. This was a very disappointing visit, and it definitely felt like we weren't welcome here.

Flawless stay — ideal for exploring Provence This hotel ticked every box. The room was immaculate and comfortable, the spa and pool were a wonderful way to recharge after full days out, and breakfast was a great start each morning. What really sets it apart is the location — right by the TGV station, making day trips around the south of France incredibly convenient. Add in genuinely friendly staff and excellent value for money, and you have a hotel that’s hard to fault. Would stay again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

I'll extract 2 comments from emails I received from the hotel regarding my booking and my request to use the Spa. From the reservation team 1) Furthermore, regarding the spa, I invite you to contact them to reserve your appointments as soon as possible. From the Spa Team 2) Thank you for your message and for your interest in our spa facilities. Unfortunately, the spa will be exceptionally closed for maintenance works throughout the entire week. Annoying as we were looking forward to using the facilities. We pointed this out during check in and cannot compliment enough how well our issue was handled. Apart from this, everything about our short stay was very nice indeed.
