Hôtel Mercure Pont d'Avignon Centre

Lovely hotel in a great location, with a spacious room. The complimentary sparkling water available on every floor was also a nice touch. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended there. While the manager was polite and took the time to explain a payment issue, the process was different from every other Accor hotel we stayed at during our trip, which caused unnecessary confusion. The customer service from one staff member was particularly disappointing. They were unable to explain the check-in process or resolve the payment issue until the manager stepped in. The same staff member was also working when we checked out. I said "good morning" twice and received no acknowledgement, only an unfriendly look. This was not the level of customer service I expected from an Accor hotel. On the evening of 20 June, I also asked the same staff member if they could recommend a breakfast spot outside the hotel, as my wife and I had been eating hotel breakfasts for the previous four days. The response was simply, "No, I don't know anywhere. I don't eat breakfast." Avignon is a small city with plenty of cafés, so a simple recommendation would have been appreciated. It came across as rude and unhelpful.

We loved the hotel’s excellent location — just a 3-minute walk to the Palace of the Popes, with everything else within a 15-minute walk. We stayed in the Salon Château room (only one in the hotel) which was super spacious and very comfortable (not luxurious, but good enough for us). The hotel has been recently renovated, so we experienced none of the issues mentioned by previous reviewers. The staff were friendly and super helpful — they even carried our luggage up the steps to reception (there’s no elevator). We also enjoyed the breakfast. Overall, we had a flawless 2-night stay and would happily return on future visits!

Wonderful hotel. Ideal location, between the Pont d'Avignon and Palace and easy to walk most places. We went with the Premier room and it was worth the splurge with the quintessential french balcony looking down a picturesque lane to one of the gates and out to the Rhone. Gorgeous. Being inside the old town wall made exploring the sights convenient, returning to the hotel with ease between sightseeing and meals where needed. Great service and clean, modern amenities. Much newer and cleaner than most hotels I've experienced in ancient European towns. Highly recommend.
