Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa

I had a fantastic stay at Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel & Spa. Everything was perfect, from check-in to check-out. The room was lovely, spacious and had a beautiful view of the garden. A big thank you to Chloe, who checked me in. She was absolutely incredible, so welcoming, friendly and helpful, and really made a great first impression. I’d also like to mention the lovely lady working at the spa with long hair. (I’m sorry I didn’t get her name), but she was incredibly friendly, warm and always smiling. Her positivity made the spa feel even more relaxed and welcoming. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend the hotel. Thank you to the whole team for making my stay so enjoyable!

Unfortunately, my stay at the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow was a very disappointing experience and fell well below the standard I expected from a Kimpton property. At check-in, our room was not ready because of maintenance issues. These were issues that should have been identified and resolved before the room was assigned to arriving guests. The check-in experience was also extremely disorganized, and the staff came across as unwelcoming rather than helpful or accommodating. Unfortunately, the condition of the room only added to the disappointment. The room was not properly clean or maintained. The bathroom was dirty, the bathroom flooring was sticky, and the flooring throughout the room was not up to an acceptable standard. The carpet was heavily stained and gave the room an overall unclean and poorly maintained appearance. For a hotel of this caliber, cleanliness and basic room readiness should be a given. What was particularly disappointing was the combination of the maintenance issue at check-in, the disorganized service, and the poor condition of the room. I expected significantly more from the Kimpton brand and from a hotel positioned as an upscale property in Glasgow. Unfortunately, this stay did not come close to meeting those expectations.

We have stayed at the Blytheswood on many occasions when we visit Glasgow from Canada. Unfortunately, on one of our last visits several years ago we did not have a good stay and questioned whether we would return to this hotel. We recently travelled to Glasgow and decided to give the Blytheswood another chance and we are so glad we did!! The hotel more than redeemed itself. We visited the beautiful spa and ate twice in the restaurant. Huge shoutout to Ava and Sam in the restaurant for your exceptional service! Chloe at the front desk was so very helpful. The room was lovely and we were so happy to see the return of the salon. We had a fabulous stay and will definitely be returning. Keep doing what you’re doing!!
