Nikko Nara

The rooms are outdated. The fact that the single rooms are small in itself in not a problem for me, the fact that nothing had been updated since the last century, including the mattress is. The food was terrible, and for Japan, it takes a lot to have a breakfast and buffet that bad. Same items at dinner and breakfast... recooked. It is overpriced. I stay pretty much at all of the big hotel chains at least once a month, this was my first experience with Nikko hotels, and it will be my last. Do yourself a favor and book a room at Marriott or Accor hotels instead. Or even try the hotel across the square. This hotel should be closed down.

A good budget option that’s clean and reasonably comfortable. The physical room key and open access to guest floors make the hotel feel dated, but we experienced no security issues during our stay. Amenities were adequate and the bathroom supplies were great. We booked the Large Twin Room, which had separate bath and toilet areas—ideal for families. The bath area follows a traditional bathhouse style with a stool and low mirror, which made bath time fun and interesting. Fresh towels and bottled water were provided daily, even when we used the Do Not Disturb sign—housekeeping simply left them in a bag outside the door. Staff were friendly, lifts were spacious, and the non-smoking room was clean with no odours or bugs. The location was easy for taxi drivers to find. There’s a FamilyMart and 7-Eleven within five minutes, plus Yakinikukotora nearby for late-night meals. Overall, a pleasant stay.

The room we were assigned faced the train station, so the train noise was a bit bothersome. However, since the hotel was right next to the station, there were bus stops, supermarkets, restaurants, and other amenities nearby, which was very convenient.　Of course, the service maintained the high level expected of a Nikko Hotel, and we were able to stay with peace of mind.
