Hotel Eurostars Hacienda Vista Real

We wish we knew how isolated and difficult this place was to navigate before we came, we would have stayed somewhere else. The rooms are huge, more like apartments, with large terraces attached to the rooms we booked. The suites used to be condos or small apartments that got converted over to hotel rooms at some point. The kitchen areas got walled off, unfortunately, which was a bad decision. It would have been insanely helpful if they were accessible, even with just the basics, since after breakfast is done at 11am, there are no food options near by without walking down the road at least 10 minutes. Getting food every night at the near by restaurants gets pretty expensive when it's your only option without taking a taxi or walking for 30+ minutes into town. Breakfast each morning never changed, it was always the same spread, which got old fast considering they had no on site dinner options. The rooms have only a small mini fridge, no kettle or coffee maker, and no way of preparing or reheating your own food, so you can't even stock up on anything to avoid having to make a trip out for dinner every single day. The pool gets a lot of leaves blown in from the overhead trees which isn't a big deal since the staff are scooping them out regularly. The bar attached to the pool was only open a few hours each day. The hot tub had no water in it. The outdoor kitchen / pizza oven next to the pool doesn't appear to have worked in years. Beach access is a 30+ minute walk away. There is only ONE visitor entrance / exit from the Playacar area, all of the other gates don't permit visitors to go through despite hotels and whatnot being common inside the Playacar area which is absurd. Car rentals are an option if you're savvy to the driving rules and expectations of this area of Mexico, but if not, you're stuck walking everywhere or paying out the nose for taxis. The taxi services definitely charge tourists more and pretend they are unable to lower the price, so your options are to either walk everywhere or get screwed out of your money. The hotel should, but doesn't, offer a shuttle service for guests to get around, considering how isolated the hotel is from everything. We booked 3 rooms for 6 people, and were only given one key per room. If you leave Playacar and don't have the room key, the guards at the gates don't let you back in, leaving you stranded on the outside. The grounds and the hotel are beautiful, and the staff was lovely and helpful, it's just unfortunate that everything is so isolated with no alternative options offered by the hotel to compensate for the isolation. It was a nice vacation overall, but we definitely won't be staying here again.
