El Taj Oceanfront & Beachside Condos

This place was awesome. The visuals are beautiful. There is a turtle my daughter loved saying hi to in the fish pond. The penthouse suite with a private hot tub and a great view of the ocean was fantastic. The beach is tiny/rocky and not for swimming. Also there are boats moored there, but still a good atmosphere at the beach club. It is within easy walking distance of 5th Ave. The staff was very accommodating. We had an issue with the AC fan and they came and fixed it right away. Would definitely stay again!

Overall, the experience was amazing. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. The only downside was that there was construction going on during my visit, and the restaurant was closed & elevator were not in use because of it. There was also an unpleasant odor, possibly from seaweed, which made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi outside our room. Additionally, the swimming pool in the beachside building was not clean during our stay. It would be great if the property could clean up the seaweed more regularly, improve beach access, and ensure the pool is properly maintained. Other than these issues, we had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed our visit.

DIRTY, RUN DOWN AND IT SMELLS!!!!! I'll start off with the elevator broken and our room on the 3rd floor. I have a bad knee and would have never booked if I knew there wasn't a usable elevator. We asked if they had any other options so they put us on the 1st floor - but to get into the room, you have to walk up steps, walk across a landing then walk down to get to the room. And, the railing was broken. They offered to let us use the door to the garage which was level with our room but they keep it locked. To get the key from the manager (EVERY TIME I WANT TO LEAVE THE HOTEL AND COME BACK IN), I have to walk up and down the main flights of stairs. It made no sense to do that. Then there's the smell from the seaweed. Its SO strong my husband was literally gagging when we first arrived. I know the hotel can't help this but it's still a terrible experience for guests. Maybe it was the time of year we went (mid-July) since other guest reviews don't seem to mention it. The rooms are dated (sofa had a hole in it) and looked like something from the 90's. We had a deck off our bedroom that was completely destroyed from rot. The windows are so foggy from being old you can barely see outside on the ocean side. We checked out as soon as we realized that there was no way I could get in or out of the property due to the steps so the crappy room was somewhat irrelevant but posting so other know that this place looks NOTHING like the pics. We were so disappointed and booked an airbnb for our trip instead. Now the hotel won't refund us despite their elevator NOT working so the owner's kind of a jerk on top of it all. BEWARE!!
