Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola

Stayed at Grand Hotel Villa Castagnola and honestly, it was quite disappointing for the price. We paid around $600 per night per single room, expecting a luxury experience, but there was nothing exceptional about the stay. The hotel feels very average and definitely not worth the price point. The location is also misleading — it’s not directly on the lake, as there is a road between the hotel and the waterfront, which takes away from the overall experience. Breakfast was below average, and what really shocked us was that they even charge extra for an omelette. For a hotel in this category, that’s simply unacceptable. Service was also underwhelming. The reservation staff made no real effort to accommodate us. We had booked two single rooms, but were given one room on a higher floor with a view and another on the ground floor. When we requested a change, instead of trying to help, they just asked us to pay extra. There was no flexibility or willingness to assist — not even a small effort. Overall, this hotel does not justify its pricing, and I would not recommend it at this level.

We had a great stay! very clean, very friendly - only issue is that the rooms can tend to be a little warm in the early spring when air conditioning hasn't been activated yet. Our room (the suite) got really hot during the day when the sun was coming in and we had to leave the doors open to cool it down at night because the air conditioning wasn't turned on yet. Staff was great, pool is very nice. It took us until the last day until we realized there was a beach type area across the street we could access and swim in the lake! It's VERY nice. Would stay again!
