In a highland reserve on Santa Cruz Island, giant tortoises graze in their natural setting and rest in muddy pools. You approach slowly, taking in the size of the shells and the calm pace of the animals. It is a quiet, moving stop for meeting some of the best-known residents of the Galápagos.
Ground can be wet, so wear waterproof or easy-to-clean shoes. Do not touch the animals, and keep a safe distance as guidelines require.
