At a tea factory in the hills of Nuwara Eliya, you follow production from withering the leaf to drying it. Then comes a cup of freshly brewed tea, carrying the cool, damp air of the plantations into the cup. It is a direct way to learn where Ceylon tea comes from.
The area is high and cool, so bring a jacket. Machinery in the factory can be loud. Tasting the tea plain makes it easier to notice aroma and flavour.
