Torbräu

Stayed in the Hotel Torbrau for four nights. Many great things about the hotel. Perfect location right next to a major S-bahn station and only a few blocks from many of Munich's main tourist attractions. Despite the central location, it's quite quiet and the hotel soundproofing is exemplary. I booked one of the deluxe doubles on the top floor. Room was generous in size and the bed and chairs were very comfortable, though the gabled roof did reduce headroom a bit near the windows. Looked out on a quiet courtyard with distant views of the church towers behind other buildings. Electric miniblinds worked well but not a full backout. Air conditioning worked perfectly, which was critical during a heatwave. Front desk staff were really friendly and happy to help or suggest things to do. The breakfast buffet was amazing--generous, diverse and delicious--made it my day's main meal. It was really nice to eat breakfast out on the balcony. I had only two concerns. The wifi was spotty in the room, though it usually worked. More seriously, there are stairs to reach the elevator in the lobby and also multiple steps to the bathtub in the generously proportioned bathroom. If you are mobility limited, you might find the stairs challenging, though the staff were happy to help with luggage. Otherwise it was a thoroughly delightful hotel. Highly recommended.

The Hotel Torbräu is a historical site in its own right, since it has been around since the 1490s and has been repaired several times after the wars. I heard that the SS was founded in this hotel as well. We didn't enjoy our first room's location, but we were quickly accommodated in another room. The breakfast was great. The staff was nice. The rooms were clean. And the location of the hotel is just unbeatably central and close to everything. Overall, it was a nice experience.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Torbrau. It is such a beautiful and historic building and they have done a wonderful job of maintaining the character of it. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The staff were exceptional and accommodated the requests I had asked for ahead of time. The location is also perfect in the Old Town area. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety, and the breakfast staff were lovely. I would absolutely stay at the Hotel Torbrau when I return to Munich!! Highly recommend.
