Hotel Bayerischer Hof

BEWARE THE ROOMS ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. It was disappointing to know that the hotel has bright, modern rooms, but I was put in one that was dark and dated (think cheetah print lampshades). The hotel even presented this room as a “suite upgrade” from our original reservation when we checked in. It feels so unfair that we paid 5-star prices and received a subpar room in comparison to others who paid the same and had their expectations met. In addition to being dark and dated, our room did not have sheer blinds, meaning it had to be pitch black if I wanted any privacy. The shower was clogged and didn’t drain. However, this was resolved after notifying housekeeping. The bath soap container was empty upon arrival. The towel warmers did not work. The TV did not have any connection, rendering it useless. The WiFi went in and out and was weak when it was connected. The speaker and hairdryer were tethered down (probably to prevent theft), affecting their ease of use. The comforter had multiple holes in it. I am one that can overlook a few misses, but the ones here were staggering, compelling me to write this review. It just did not have the functionality, class, and attention to detail expected of a 5-star hotel. Despite my disappointment with the room, the staff here were hospitable and the hotel was very accessible to the city—I truly did enjoy my time here in Munich!

For a hotel with the reputation and pricing of Bayerischer Hof, our stay was extremely disappointing. I stayed at Bayerischer Hof on November 10th 2025 to November 11th 2025, for $522. In my experience, the room did not match what I understood from the booking/photos. We booked a room that, based on the listing and photos, appeared to include both a king bed and a separate twin bed, but were given only one king bed. When we raised the issue, we did not feel the staff handled our concerns appropriately. We also tried to book spa treatments during our stay but were told none were available because the therapist was absent. As a result, we were unable to use the spa services at all, which was disappointing for a luxury hotel. The room itself was dark, the couches appeared stained, and the décor did not meet our expectations for the price paid. One of the most upsetting moments was when no assistance was offered with luggage down the stairs. A staff member said, "I see you are able to do it yourself, so you won't need any help," and walked away. I also contacted customer service afterward and did not receive a response. Based on our experience, we felt the hotel did not provide the level of service we expected from a five-star property and would not recommend it. I have had this review challenged and removed multiple times despite describing my firsthand experience, which I find very concerning.

Room build quality was so bad I could clearly hear my neighbors talking with normal speech volume. The noise came from a wall corner, very odd. This feedback was given to the hotel and later via their "we value your feedback so much, please complete our questionnaire" to which I received no response. With the service quality and room quality I would put this hotel at 2 star level. I might have been unlucky, but true 5 star hotels don't leave things to luck. Seems like the Bayerischer of Munich has lost its mojo.
