The Mark Hotel

My recent stay at The Mark Hotel in New York was exceptional, but what truly made it unforgettable was the extraordinary level of care and dedication shown by the team. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Maria Wittorp and Timoleon Giannakoudis, who went far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. When one of our suitcases went missing after being shipped, they immediately took ownership of the situation and treated it as though it were their own. Rather than simply offering advice or directing me elsewhere, they personally followed up with FedEx, coordinated tirelessly with the New Jersey facility, and remained persistent until the suitcase was located. Their professionalism, determination, and genuine compassion turned what could have been an incredibly stressful experience into one that reaffirmed what true luxury hospitality is all about. They kept me informed throughout the process, never gave up, and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring everything was resolved. It is rare to encounter individuals who care so deeply about their guests’ well-being. Maria and Timoleon are outstanding ambassadors for The Mark, and their dedication reflects the highest standards of service excellence. They transformed a difficult situation into an experience that left me feeling genuinely valued and cared for. The Mark is rightly regarded as one of New York’s finest hotels, not only because of its beautiful property and impeccable amenities, but because of remarkable people like Maria Wittorp and Timoleon Giannakoudis. They exemplify the very best of hospitality, and I cannot thank them enough for their kindness, professionalism, and unwavering support. I wholeheartedly recommend The Mark to anyone seeking not just luxury accommodations, but a team that truly cares about its guests. Maria and Timoleon deserve the highest recognition for the exceptional service they provide. They are an absolute credit to The Mark, and I look forward to returning.

Today, around 7:45–7:50 PM, I went to the hotel to pick up a passenger. My passenger had texted me that he would be outside in a minute, so I briefly stopped while waiting for him. A staff member outside the hotel approached me and told me I could not stop there. I calmly explained that my passenger would be outside within a minute, but instead of handling the situation professionally, he became extremely rude, started yelling at me, and spoke to me in a very disrespectful manner. What was even more concerning is that he appeared to try to damage my car mirror. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially from someone representing a hotel. I strongly recommend that management look into this incident and review how this employee handled the situation. Employees who interact with guests and drivers should be trained to communicate respectfully and professionally, even when there is a disagreement. I hope management takes this matter seriously and ensures that appropriate action is taken so other customers and drivers do not experience this kind of treatment.

Stayed at The Mark Hotel in New York during the Christmas period, and honestly, for this price, the experience was shockingly poor 👎. I understand holiday premium pricing is normal, but paying around $5k for three nights for a Madison King room was extremely disappointing. The room was visibly old, poorly maintained, noisy, and dirty. Dust, stains, and grime were everywhere. Soundproofing was terrible, and even the fridge was unusually loud. After reporting the issues, the manager’s only solution was a room upgrade. The staff did help move and reorganize our belongings and specifically noted that we had two refrigerated gifts in the fridge — yet somehow, those items were lost during the move. Unfortunately, the upgraded room (Park Studio) was no better — actually worse. Upon entering, the bedding was wrinkled and looked unkempt, there were visible stains, limescale, water marks, mold in the corners, cracked walls, and even leftover food residue in the oven that clearly hadn’t been cleaned. It was honestly unbelievable for a hotel of this reputation. At this price point, guests should not have to tolerate such conditions. Spending more money should mean more comfort, not more frustration 🙃. If you’re choosing The Mark mainly for location, there are other luxury hotels just one block away. I haven’t personally stayed at them, so this isn’t a direct recommendation — but it’s hard to imagine they could be worse than this experience.
