Victoria Falls Safari Club

A lovely place to stay near Victoria Falls, while still feeling close to nature. Our room overlooked the lodge’s private waterhole, which was perfect for watching wildlife directly from the property. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection, and the dinner was of good quality with several regional dishes. The lodge itself is showing its age in some areas and could benefit from a renovation, but the warm and attentive staff more than made up for it. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay!

(Not to be confused with the superior “Lodge”). Just went for fine dining with a group and family members. The atmosphere and staffing were welcoming and warm, with the environment having a luxurious feel about it, of course, sitting inside the wonderful National Park. Unfortunately, the food was not as good as the Clubs neighbouring restaurants. Was it a sign of hospitality we were presented with a complimentary taster or panic in the kitchen using this as a time delay tactic? When asked what the food was and which ingredients were used (at least one in the group had allergies), all staff could not answer. My food choices: Blue cheese and mushroom cigar. The starter was missing a blue cheese depth of flavour and the crunchy outer. Might be subjective to me? My Brother had selected chicken liver pate, and, as far as my descriptive limitations are, I can only see a bowl filled with brown material that one would avoid in a marsh environment, with similar taste profiles? Main: venison en-crute. Served with roast carrots and zucchini. (One of each and overcooked). The fact anyone who ordered steak or Venison needed to ask for sharper knives was a sign, as my venison was perfect pink on the inside, but I lacked the teeth of a nearby lion to eat the meat, which was too tough. I left the main after each attempt to eat the two cuts on the plate. I should have asked for a “doggy bag” and gave it to the heroic man who feeds the vultures daily? The serving staff were as professional as they could be, particularly when some non-food was mentioned to be discovered by another one of my group. Overall, a missed opportunity to maintain the whole resorts high food standards.
