A place that stops time — Victor Country Hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Some hotels are just places to sleep. Victor Country Hotel is something else entirely. Built on a 19th-century working farm, the property is a beautifully restored masseria — the original granary and olive mill still form part of the complex, now sensitively transformed using traditional Puglian stone, wood, and iron. Knowing that history as you walk the grounds adds a quiet layer of magic. The gardens are immaculately kept — so much so that nature has clearly taken notice. Bees, butterflies and birds were everywhere. In the pool, dragonflies skimmed the surface while swallows, swifts and house martins dipped and dived overhead. It felt like a scene from a Disney film. The whitewashed Puglian stone is a constant delight — throughout the grounds, our bedroom, and especially the bathroom, where the original tiles were still intact. Each morning stepping outside, the birdsong from the eaves was so dense it felt like walking through an aviary. On one of our days we simply abandoned our sightseeing plans and stayed by the pool. When a place makes you do that, it tells you everything. On top of all that, the rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the staff were warm and helpful throughout. A truly unique and charming place — we'd go back in a heartbeat.

4/5 = worth the price Price = 51€ / night / person The room was in OK condition (needs small maintenance) and clean. The breakfast was good. The hotel's staff was nice and welcoming. The swimming pool area could feel small if the hotel is full of guests. They've put artificial grass around the swimming pool, but they should have kept the wooden floor. A part of this area (the one with what looks like a bar counter, concrete floor) needs some renovation and paving to make it nice. The location is cute and the hotel is 5 minutes away by car from Alberobello.

We booked this hotel for three nights, expecting a 4-star standard as advertised on Booking.com, but unfortunately the reality was very disappointing. The hotel feels old and neglected. The only positive aspects were the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, the peaceful location, and the convenient distance to Alberobello. The receptionist who welcomed us was friendly and pleasant.
