Shangri-La Lhasa

Wow this is the best hotel in Lhasa, it is not on fire with any of the other hotels in Beijing, Xi'an or Shanghai. I really wouldn't consider it a five-star hotel. That said, there are definitely some advantages to this hotel. Number one is the oxygen lounge, number two is complimentary oxygen in your rooms. This is important as if you're coming from a low altitude origin, you will need to adjust accordingly. The Asbury drive, and oxygen levels are much lower than they are in Beijing or Shanghai. You will definitely notice the difference. The showers are very nice, but it's not recommended that you shower until 24 to 48 hours after your arrival. Beds are also comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating, but I didn't feel like the service was on the same level as other five star hotels in Beijing or Shanghai.

5 stars all the way! The Shangri-La Lhasa is a beautiful hotel with stunning views . The amenities are top-notch, Huge thanks to Mr. Copper at the front desk for his amazing service! He was incredibly helpful, polite, and made sure every detail of our stay was perfect. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for luxury and great service in Tibet."

It’s slightly far of a walk for downtown but an easy to take a didi. Good breakfast selection with chinese and western breakfast and a full bakery section. I especially love the local section with the milk tea and barley and local soup. There is a great view of the palace from the 5th floor. We were there during the Tibetan New Year so the lobby was nicely decorated. The elevators for some reason all smelled very bad but thankfully our room was free of smells. The wood doors do show a sign of wear and tear but over all clean except the cigarette butt we did find under the couch. The rooms were equipped with an oxygen machine that we ended up using on one of the days . There are also vending machine that sold oxygen tanks And even a medical team on staff 24/7 . Overall a good time at Shanghai La in Lhasa.
