Legend of Baikal

Well we walked from the tourist area of Listvyanka via the Musuem to this legendary hotel. Only went to the restaurant but really enjoyed the view as it over looks Shaman Rock where the Angara River meets Lake Baikal. It is surprising as it features antique-style and classic furnishings with a nice restaurant overlooking the waterfront, and a cafe on the terrace.

Nice big room and beautiful view of the lake from the room. However, there is no lift and you have to pay the guy 250 rub for each piece of luggage to bring it to your room from the reception as there is a steep stair case. FYI there is a front door which is locked on the first floor which you can roll your luggage to your room without having to climb the stairs. Get them to open for you. The reception staff not very friendly. However the waiter at the restaurant is really friendly and helpful.

It is pleasantly located at the mouth of angara river to lake baikal. A great spot for picture taking. We stayed there for three nights. The food at the restaurant was delicious. Servers are polite and we appreciate Katherine's service. One of the receptionist also speaks Mandarin, on top of English. It feels even better to be able to connect that way. It is a neat place to be.
