Kato Dool Wellness Resort

I had an incredible stay at Kato Dool and cannot recommend it highly enough. A special thank you to Raouf, whose hospitality was truly exceptional and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The room was amazing spotlessly clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The views were absolutely unbelievable and made every moment at the hotel feel special. What really stood out was how warm and welcoming everyone on the team was. Every member of staff greeted us with genuine kindness and made us feel right at home. The combination of outstanding service, stunning surroundings, and a fantastic atmosphere made this a memorable experience. I would go back in a heartbeat and look forward to visiting again in the future!

Kato Dool Wellness Resort — Review👍🏼 What we loved: The aesthetics of the resort are absolutely stunning — very stylish and photogenic, with beautiful Nubian-style architecture that creates a really special atmosphere😍 The view from the room over the city, the Nile, and the desert was gorgeous, especially at sunrise. We had a room with a jacuzzi and a lovely view, and we were very happy with it. The food at the restaurant was very tasty. 😋 Rooms were spacious, and there were plenty of nice complimentary touches: shaving kits, toothpaste, slippers. Free bottled water in the room was also a nice plus. We especially appreciated how quickly and easily they arranged transfers — a tuk-tuk ride as well as the airport transfer. What could be improved: 1. Air conditioning — the main downside. The lowest setting on the AC was 20°C, but the room temperature never actually dropped below 23–25°C, which isn’t very comfortable for sleeping after a hot day. 2. Unstable electricity — the power went out periodically, including at night, which meant the already weak AC would stop working entirely, making the room unbearably hot. 3. Wi-Fi — only works near the reception area and doesn’t reach the rooms. Mobile roaming data is also weak because of the resort’s location and elevation. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a known, long-standing issue that really needs to be addressed. 4. Room cleanliness on arrival — dust in the corners, and both the jacuzzi and the hanging swing chair on the balcony were covered in sand. I understand sand blows in from the desert nearby, but it would be nice to have a perfectly clean room upon check-in. 5. Bathroom — water leaks out of the shower area while showering, requiring a mop to clean up afterward. It would help to have better drainage or a threshold to keep the water contained. Overall: This resort is a wonderful experience for a day or two — a chance to soak in the Nubian village aesthetic and enjoy beautiful views. However, for a longer stay it becomes less comfortable, mainly due to the air conditioning and power outages. If those issues were fixed, this would be an excellent resort.

I agree that these views over the sand dunes and Nile are incredible and definitely worth staying here for that and for the pool which is rare in Aswan. The rooms, all with Nile view balconies, are also super clean and comfortable. The beds are huge and the pillows so squishy. The Nubian architecture is also super unique and fun. For me, it loses points for the service. Everything is in dollars and it’s pricey. $15 for a simple breakfast buffet which we had for free at our last hotel, non alcoholic drinks $4. We avoided eating in the hotel and ate out or brought our own provisions. The staff weren’t particularly helpful either. It is quite isolated too. You have to get a ropey tuktuk from the gharba soheil village which is a dirt track village too, which was fine but after a few days we were beginning to feel a bit isolated. It’s worth mentioning that you can get a boat from the beach below if you walk down the dune to East Bank. I would recommend this method a lot more over the tuk tuk and then taxi. The boat drivers are nice and they will take you for 50 egp if you ask, but the receptionist didn’t see to think this was possible. All in our two nights is perfect here. I would recommend another one or two on elephantine island which is very tranquil also with some great views and cheap homemade food.
