InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu

Great location. Service was always great. Breakfast host always had a lovely s.ile for everyone. She was always professional, personable and efficient. Room was good, though doors to balcony were not easy to close. Shower had mold and water ran under door into rest of the room. Front desk and Concierge were always helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was always good with a lot of variety.

The Hôtel Dieu provides comfortable accommodation in an excellent location for exploring the sights of Marseille. While the room was relatively small, it was functional and featured a comfortable bed, though the finishing touches appeared somewhat modest. The property is consistently clean and well maintained, reflecting the team’s strong attention to detail. What truly distinguishes this hotel is its staff. Every team member encountered was friendly, professional, and notably hardworking. The reception staff, in particular, delivered an exceptional standard of service. Overall, this hotel represents an outstanding choice, and it is difficult to imagine staying elsewhere when visiting the city.

We stayed three nights and enjoyed the fitness center, with plenty of cardio and free weights, and the indoor pool, which was the perfect temperature, as well as the steam room. We were upgraded to a room with a marina, basilica view and balcony. The balcony was spacious, with a couch and two cushioned chairs. The only downside to the balcony was the people next door smoking. We would have used it more without the smoke. Our room was so comfortable! The first night we slept 10 hours. We had the best pillows ever. I relaxed each evening in the soaking tub, making a bubble bath for myself. Breakfast was included because of our American Express Platinum card. The restaurant is outdoors and there is a falconer who stands guard with his American Hawk to ward off the pigeons and seagulls. Very effective. The breakfast buffet has fresh crepes, omeletes and eggs to order, as well as everything you would normally find on a five star breakfast buffet. We ate dinner at the restaurant. We had the lamb canon and the lamb cutlet. We shared the sardine appetizer, which was delicious. All the food items were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. One night had room service, which was also well done. We had the cheeseburger with fries and the chicken ratatouille. The highlight of our experience was with the concierge, who patiently helped us with our train reservations, since the train we were booked on had been cancelled. He was patient and so helpful - a great representative for the hotel. All along everyone was checking in to see how we were doing and if we were enjoying our stay. The Hotel location is wonderful. An easy walk down to the marina area. Easy access to restaurants, boats, shops - but just far enough away for peace and quiet when you are on property. Our stay could not have been better!
