Hyatt Regency Kyoto

We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency. The rooms were cozy, beautifully designed with warm wooden interiors, and had a lovely, relaxing feel. The shower was excellent too! A special thank you to our Server Mari and Teah, who made our stay even more memorable. They were incredibly friendly, accommodating, and always greeted us with warm smiles. The breakfast was one of the yummiest we’ve had so far during our trip—fresh, delicious, and with plenty of variety. Highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, outstanding hospitality, and amazing breakfast. Love from Kenya. 🇰🇪❤️

We had a wonderful stay at Hyatt Regency Kyoto and would especially like to recognize Ms. Inori Tomohisa for her exceptional warmth and hospitality. Inori helped us with our luggage when we arrived and immediately made us feel very welcome. We later happened to run into her in Kyoto after she had finished work, and even though she was off duty, she was still incredibly friendly and took the time to recommend nearby places to eat and visit. By coincidence, we saw her again when we were leaving the hotel — she helped us with our luggage, warmly saw us off, and even spoke with our taxi driver in Japanese to make sure he knew exactly where we were going. Those small but genuine gestures made our stay especially memorable. We would also like to recognize a male team member at the counter opposite the check-in/check-out area, where luggage delivery services are handled. Unfortunately we did not get his name, but he patiently explained the luggage delivery service in great detail. His English was remarkably fluent and natural, and his professionalism and communication skills really impressed us. Both of these team members are wonderful representatives of Hyatt hospitality. Thank you for making our family's stay in Kyoto so memorable!

The property itself is well run. Staff were professional, attentive, and consistently helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The small gym was a nice bonus and well maintained. Overall, the stay was solid from a service and facilities standpoint. The main issue is pricing across food and beverage. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and simple desserts are priced at a level that feels disconnected from the local market. It feels like full premium international pricing without matching value. For example, dessert offerings on property can reach roughly $40 per person, while nearby local cafes offer better options at a fraction of the cost. That creates a noticeable gap between what you pay and what you receive. To be clear, this is not a reflection on the staff. Service was consistently good. The concern is the corporate pricing strategy. As Hyatt Explorist members, we received zero on-property recognition or perks. No acknowledgement, no notice, no added benefit, and nothing that made the status feel relevant during the stay. Overall: a strong four-star property based on staff, rooms, and facilities, but not a five-star experience due to the poor value and lack of Explorist recognition.
