Hilton Düsseldorf

My experience at the Hilton Düsseldorf was below what I expected from a 4-star hotel and from the Hilton brand. There was an issue during my stay that has now been resolved, which I appreciate. However, the overall experience was still disappointing. The breakfast lacked variety, and many of the available options did not feel particularly healthy or balanced for breakfast. I expected a better selection, especially considering the hotel category. The room itself felt quite bleak. Mine had a strange smell, it did not necessarily stink, but it also did not smell fresh or properly cleaned. The room seemed to be designed as a mix between a hotel room and a small apartment, but in my opinion it did not succeed as either. It did not provide the comfort, atmosphere, or energy of a real bedroom, and the furniture made the room feel cheap rather than welcoming. The location was also not ideal for me, as there seemed to be limited restaurant options nearby. For a 4-star hotel in Düsseldorf, I have seen better alternatives, and honestly, I expected more from a Hilton property. Overall, I do not plan to return.

It has nothing in common with the elegance, cleanliness, and high standards we associate with the Hilton brand. When we arrived after a long journey from Sweden, I asked for help with our luggage, but the receptionist told me to carry it myself. The rooms were old and outdated. There were no slippers and no bathroom amenities or hygiene kits provided. I also asked for extra bath towels because the two we had were already wet, but the receptionist simply replied that we already had two towels. The breakfast was excellent. There was a wide variety of food available, everything tasted fresh, and the selection was generous. It was definitely one of the highlights of the stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing. It was noticeable that cleaning had not been done thoroughly, as there was dust and dirt under the bed. Another issue was the minibar fridge. We were told by the front desk that it was not working, but it turned out that it was simply unplugged. This could have been checked and resolved much more easily. The biggest drawback was the air conditioning. Despite being turned on, it was not able to cool the room sufficiently. The room remained quite warm throughout the stay, which made it difficult to feel comfortable. Overall, the breakfast and food selection were very good, but the room maintenance, housekeeping standards, and climate control did not meet the expectations for a hotel in this category.
