Antonius Boutique Hotel

We selected the Antonius because of its high scoring reviews, and we’re glad we did. That said, it is quite unlike almost every other hotel we have visited. Bottom line up front: it’s a lovingly restored heritage building furnished from a time capsule. In a world of Ikea flat pack furniture, tile, and engineered flooring, the Antonius stands out with its selection of interesting dark brown antique furniture, colourful paint and wallpaper, stone and brick walls, glazed tile fireplaces, and Persian carpets. Our room even had a massive 15cm thick steel door which, given the building was variously a credit association, pawnshop, and police office, probably was used to keep things - or people - secure. Staff members are cheerful and professional, and the cellar restaurant (with its own good reviews) offers a good breakfast each morning. Best of all, the hotel is located within walking distance of many of Tartu’s restaurants, bars, and attractions. Recommended.

I had a good stay at this small, sympathetic hotel that is full of Old Town charm. Every room is uniquely decorated and has its own individual character. I stayed in a large top-floor room, which was beautiful with its slanted ceilings, skylights, and exposed wooden beams. The spacious bathroom was a lovely surprise, especially since it included a bathtub. The room also came with extra comforts like a cozy bathrobe, slippers, and coffee-making facilities. The breakfast was great, featuring sparkling wine and the option to order freshly prepared warm dishes straight to the table.
