A-ROSA Collection Straubinger Grand Hotel

Oh, what a lovely hotel! As soon as we checked in and settled in to the room, I immediately went and extended our stay here as it truly something special. There is so much charm and personality everywhere you look. We had just left Kempinski Berchtesgaden and are much more charmed by Straubinger. Most especially with the service! Absolutely everybody has been so kind, namely Eszter, who has been the absolute best in every way! She is so lovely to talk with! She was so helpful even before we arrived, again at check-in, with extending our stay, and so much more! The room and the pool terrace has some of the most idyllic views also. You can see and feel the thoughtfulness and love put in to the design and appointments of the hotel. The spa is the most beautiful I have ever seen. I’m excited to try the signature ritual today - I am sure it will be amazing. Breakfast is fantastic, the eggs Florentine were just a little underdone. Room service was great, we did find the carrot cake a little dry and small, but the burger and truffle fries were tasty. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, and the sound of the waterfall beneath you is quite soothing - it will lull you to sleep! It is truly a lovely, charming, and special space! I would love to be back!

I am not one to usually take the time to write reviews for hotels; it has to be a place that really wows me. A Rosa Grand Hotel Straubinger was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Incredible customer service, we were welcomed with a rose and glass of wine, our bags were taken immediately from our car and our car itself was parked for us. Our room was upgraded and we were given a tour of the beautiful facilities on the property. The spa, especially the infinity pool on the rooftop, was a huge highlight for my husband and I. Breakfast in the morning was incredible with a buffet filled with fresh and local options, as well as eggs made to order how you like them, coffee made to order and also an offer of a daily homemade smoothie. The town Bad Gastein itself is also incredibly charming. Highly recommend, thank you to all of the staff who assisted us during our stay.

Straubinger Grand Hotel – A Grand Dame Beautifully Brought Back to Life Our stay at the Straubinger began with a rather optimistic plan to drag our luggage up and down the steep hills of Bad Gastein. Thankfully, Bruno came to our rescue! From the moment he greeted us, he made us feel completely at home. As he escorted us to our room, he shared the incredible story of this magnificent hotel. After standing empty for nearly 20 years and slowly falling into ruin, the Straubinger has been lovingly restored to its former glory. What makes it so special is how respectfully the renovation was done. So many original features - like the grand staircase, soaring ceilings, and historic details - have been preserved, allowing the hotel’s rich history to shine through. The result is something truly unique: old-world grandeur paired effortlessly with contemporary luxury. Every space feels elegant, warm, and thoughtfully designed. The people here are just as memorable as the building itself. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome, as though they weren’t just looking after the guests, but caring for this remarkable piece of history as well. Bad Gastein itself is unlike anywhere we’ve visited. Walking through town feels like stepping back in time, with the majestic waterfall cascading through the centre and historic buildings around every corner. There’s a wonderful sense that the town’s famous healing thermal waters have shaped its history for generations. We spent our evenings enjoying wonderful drinks, great conversations, and soaking up the atmosphere. The hotel’s central location made exploring effortless, and returning each day to such a beautiful place felt like coming home. Straubinger Grand Hotel is far more than a luxury hotel - it’s a place where history has been given a second life. Staying here was one of the highlights of our Austrian journey, and it’s an experience we’ll remember for a long time.
