Tunisia and Ancient Cities Tour

We meet 3 hours before the flight at Istanbul Airport’s international departures terminal, in front of the Turkish Airlines counter. After completing baggage, ticket and passport formalities, we depart for Tunis at 09.00 on Turkish Airlines flight TK661. We arrive in Tunis at 10.00 local time and begin our city tour in the vehicle waiting for us at the airport. During the tour, we see Habib Bourguiba Boulevard, known as the Champs Elsysees Boulevard of Tunis, Independence Square, the Clock Tower, which has become a symbol of the city, and St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral, the largest surviving building from Tunis’s colonial period. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel in the Hammamet area. On arrival at the hotel, there is free time. Dinner and overnight stay are at our hotel in the Hammamet area.

After breakfast at the hotel, we join the Historical Traces of Tunisia (Tunis & Carthage & Sidi Bou Said & Bardo Museum) tour. Our first stop is Tunis, the country's capital and its political, commercial and cultural centre. Here, we see how modern and old Tunisia coexist in the city. We then head to Carthage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded by the Phoenicians, Carthage was once one of the Roman Empire's centres in Africa. After a lunch break here, we continue to Sidi Bou Said. Known for its cobbled streets and blue and white houses, the town is where we stop for photos overlooking the Mediterranean. The final stop on our tour is the Bardo Museum, one of the most important museums in the Mediterranean region. The museum houses an extensive collection of marble works depicting Roman gods and emperors, as well as the world's largest collection of Roman mosaics. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel in the Hammamet area.

After breakfast at the hotel, we join the Ancient Cities (Kairouan & El Djem & Sousse) tour. Our first stop is the holy city of Kairouan, which ranks fourth among Islamic pilgrimage sites after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. The city is home to the Great Mosque, considered an important example of Islamic architecture in the region. We then travel to El Djem to see the ruins of North Africa's largest colosseum. After exploring this structure, where 35.000 spectators gathered to watch gladiator fights during the region's most prosperous period, we continue to Sousse, the country's 3rd largest city and one of its tourism centres. We stop for lunch in this city, known for its scenery and the markets and walls of its maze-like medina in the city centre. After the break, we return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel in the Hammamet area.

After breakfast at the hotel, we complete check-out. We leave for the airport at the time announced by our guide. After baggage and ticket procedures, we depart for Istanbul at 18.20 on Turkish Airlines flight TK 664. Our tour ends upon arrival at 23.15 local time.
