Explore Iceland's Northern Lights in 7 Days

Flight TK1767 is scheduled to depart from Istanbul Airport (IST) at 07:55 and arrive in Prague (PRG) at 08:35. Flight FI 537 is scheduled to depart from Prague (PRG) at 12:50 and arrive at Reykjavik - Keflavik (KEF) at 16:00. After meeting at Istanbul Airport and completing check-in, we depart for Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, on a flight via Prague. After a journey of approximately 11 hours, we complete passport formalities and travel to the city centre in our private vehicle to check in at our hotel. Guests who wish can take a short city walk in the evening. The route along Laugavegur Street, lined with cafés and small boutiques, and photo stops around Hallgrímskirkja Church are recommended for this walk. We spend the night at the 3-star Hotel Klettur in central Reykjavik (or a similar group hotel).

After breakfast, we set out on a full-day Golden Circle tour with guests who wish to join. Along this route, we visit Iceland's natural sites. Thingvellir National Park lies in the valley where the North American and European tectonic plates are moving apart and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Geysir Geothermal Area, we see the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5-10 minutes, and the surrounding landscape with its rising steam. At Gullfoss Waterfall, we watch the water cascade in two stages between frozen rocks. During the tour, we stop at local cafés for coffee and snacks. We return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon for free time. Guests who wish can walk around the city centre or have dinner at local fish restaurants. After breakfast, guests who wish to join us take a tour of Iceland's South Coast. On this optional full-day tour, we see the region's natural formations. At Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, we walk behind the falling water. We visit Skógafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland's highest waterfalls. We then see Reynisfjara Black Volcanic Beach, the country's most famous beach, known for its basalt columns formed from lava and its large waves. Along the way, we view Eyyafjallajökull Volcano and make short stops in small towns. We return to Reykjavik in the evening. We stay at the 3-star Hotel Klettur (or similar) in central Reykjavik. After breakfast, we head to Blue Lagoon Thermal Spa with guests who wish to join this optional visit. Set among lava fields, the spa is one of Iceland's sites known for its milky blue thermal waters. Here, you can swim in warm waters containing volcanic minerals, try mud masks and take photos amid the steam rising from the water. The spa also has a café, a bar and souvenir shops. After the Blue Lagoon visit, we return to Reykjavik. The afternoon is free time in the city. You can shop around Hallgrímskirkja or try local dishes at restaurants in the harbour area. In the evening, weather permitting, you can join a short Northern Lights viewing tour arranged by our guide (extra). Accommodation is at the 3-star Hotel Klettur (or similar) in central Reykjavik. After breakfast, guests who wish to join us set off on an optional tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. On the peninsula, we see lava fields, glacier-covered mountains, coastal villages and volcanic landscapes. The villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar are home to coastal basalt cliffs and seabird colonies. During the tour, we see Snæfellsjökull Glacier, which inspired Jules Verne's novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach, with its lava stones washed ashore, is among our stops. Mount Kirkjufell, Iceland's most photographed peak, is also on the itinerary. Along the way, we take short walks and stop for photos. We return to Reykjavik in the evening. We stay at the 3-star Hotel Klettur (or similar) in central Reykjavik. Breakfast is included. The full-day optional guided tour costs US $ 195 / person, with transport included. On the Reykjanes & Blue Lagoon Aurora Night tour, we visit the lava fields around Blue Lagoon and the shores of the Reykjanes Peninsula. At night, we have the opportunity to watch the aurora in areas without artificial lighting. Photos can be taken amid the steam from Blue Lagoon and the surrounding lava formations.

After breakfast, guests who wish can join a whale watching tour, one of Iceland's popular activities. This tour is optional. Departing from Reykjavik harbour, we sail through the bay with a chance to observe minke whales, orcas, dolphins and seabirds in their natural habitat. The 3-hour tour is led by an experienced captain and guides. Hot drinks are served during the tour, and special thermal overalls are provided. After the boat tour, we return to the city centre. The rest of the day is free time. You can shop around Hallgrímskirkja, walk around Harpa Concert Hall or spend the evening in local cafés. We stay at the 3-star Hotel Klettur (or similar) in central Reykjavik. Breakfast is included. The optional tour costs US $ 120 per person. This price includes an approximately 3-hour guided boat tour and a hot drink.

After breakfast, you have free time throughout the day to explore Reykjavik at your own pace. You can visit the small boutiques and cafés on Laugavegur Street and stroll through streets lined with colorful houses. You can take your final photos around Hallgrímskirkja, explore the waterfront by walking toward Harpa Concert Hall and the Old Harbor, and say goodbye to the city at the Sun Voyager sculpture. You can spend the afternoon shopping, taking coffee breaks, and exploring on your own. In the evening, you can take one last walk through the streets of Reykjavik and try Icelandic cuisine at a local restaurant as you spend the final night of your northern journey. We then travel to Keflavik Airport in our private vehicle. After passport control and baggage check-in, we begin our journey home. As our trip to Iceland comes to an end, we take with us memories of glaciers, lava fields, waterfalls and the northern lights, hoping to meet again on another journey to explore the north.
