The Victoria Falls Hotel

My only regret is that we only spent one night of our honeymoon at The Victoria Falls Hotel. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that we were in for an exceptional experience. We were greeted by the beaming smile of our porter, Samson, who guided us to check-in while sharing fascinating insights into the hotel’s rich history. He then introduced us to Sharon, who was the definition of a true professional. With just a few thoughtful questions, she intuitively curated our experience—arranging an extended checkout, securing our dinner reservation and spa booking, and organizing transport to see the Falls. She could not have done more to make our stay feel seamless and special. While the Falls themselves are nothing short of majestic, the hotel provided the perfect sanctuary to return to. We enjoyed the most elegant dining experience of our lives at the Livingstone Suite. Simba and his team were incredible; they glided through the restaurant with effortless grace, anticipating every need before we even had to ask. This standard of service continued through breakfast the following morning, where Sydney and his team provided a different, yet equally memorable, fine-dining experience. Our visit was perfectly concluded with a fantastic massage, leaving us thoroughly relaxed as we head off for the next leg of our honeymoon. We have already decided that The Victoria Falls Hotel will be our designated destination for our future milestone anniversaries; it is truly the only place we would want to mark those occasions. The Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel carries a nostalgic charm — its design and atmosphere evoke the 1970s. While this retro feel has character, the corridors could benefit from brighter lighting, splashes of color, and a few inexpensive paintings to lift the mood and modernize the ambiance. 👥 Staff & Service Friendly and accommodating: Staff were attentive, even changing rooms to provide a better garden view and balcony. Packed breakfast: Though arranged in advance for the game drive, the hotel initially forgot and quickly assembled a box — functional but haphazard. 🍽️ Food & Entertainment Breakfast: Wholesome, with fresh seasonal fruit and excellent local filter coffee. Dinner buffet: Good variety; the fish was enjoyable, though the beef stew was chewy. Cultural highlight: Traditional dancing added vibrancy and authenticity to the evening. 🛏️ Rooms & Facilities Room quality: Clean and functional, though deeper cleaning is needed in corners, behind doors, and around faucets where old grime lingers. Comfort: Beds and towels were decent, practical, and aligned with the hotel’s value-for-money appeal. Garden & pool bar: A standout feature, with lush greenery and a relaxed poolside atmosphere. Guests should be mindful of playful vervet monkeys, known for stealing unattended drinks and sugar sachets. 🌟 Overall Impression The Rainbow Hotel blends friendliness, cultural charm, and practicality. It’s not without flaws — housekeeping could be more thorough, and small lapses like the breakfast box show room for improvement. Yet, the combination of accommodating staff, wholesome meals, cultural entertainment, and a beautiful garden setting, with free wifi makes it a good value stay in Victoria Falls, especially for travelers who appreciate a touch of retro character.

The best part of this hotel is the terrace that’s facing the Livingston Bridge, absolutely lovely view. The pool area is also lovely. Food is rather disappointing and the breakfast substandard. The service is also mass tourism. For the price you pay, I am not sure whether it is worthwhile. 1 night is enough. I find Zambia side more fun At Anantara /Avani.
