A boat safari on the Chobe River shows elephants drinking at the bank, hippos lying in the river and shore birds close up in daylight. The boat moves near the water and animals are watched from a calm distance. It is a short and comfortable introduction to a southern African safari.
Bring sun cream, a hat, sunglasses and binoculars. Sightings depend on luck. Morning and late afternoon light brings more animal activity and better photographs.
