The Peninsula Shanghai

Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, with beautiful views of the Huangpu River and the Pudong skyline, especially at sunrise and at night. However, although I specifically booked a river-view room, the view was angled rather than directly facing the river and skyline, and was partially obstructed by the building, which was a little disappointing. At breakfast, we were reminded twice about wearing the hotel room slippers, even though we noticed other guests wearing them as well, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Also, breakfast was included in our room rate, but the menu still listed prices, and the ordering arrangement was not explained to us beforehand. I also felt there were too many chargeable drinks, snacks, and other items displayed in the room without clear pricing. It made the room feel a little more like a shop than a private space to relax. Overall, I still enjoyed my stay and appreciated the atmosphere and views, but for a hotel of this caliber and at this price point, I would have expected more attention to these details.

Beautiful, breathtaking view from our room. The hotel is absolutely stunning, fantastic and will be a treasured memory for the rest of our lives. The staff are wonderful and spoke great English, which we really appreciated being Canadians. The staff gave us a wonderful Anniversary gift in our room, as it was our 6th wedding anniversary. The restaurant on the 13th floor was also stunning, with amazing staff who took the very best of care of us. We were fortunate to also get the opportunity to use the terrace bar, on the 14th floor, with a romantic view of the city at night. This hotel is worth the price and I highway recommend staying here if visiting Shanghai. It will make you trip to the wonderful country a trip you'll remember forever. We recently stayed at The Peninsula Shanghai and had an excellent experience. This is a classic luxury hotel that truly delivers on service, comfort, and overall experience. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable. The in-room technology is next level and one of the standout features of the stay. Service was exceptional throughout. Every interaction felt polished and attentive, and the team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Josie was especially a highlight. She arranged thoughtful touches and even sent us off with goodies for our kids, which was such a special and personal gesture. Food and beverage options were strong with a good variety across the property. Everything we tried was well executed and convenient for a high-quality dining experience. The location is excellent, right along the Bund and close to major sights, shopping, and dining. It made getting around the city very easy. This is a great option for anyone looking for a refined, traditional luxury experience in Shanghai. We would absolutely stay here again.
