Overall, it is an okay place to stay. One of the main pros is its proximity to bus stops (less than 100m away), and it is not far from the U2 underground line. The breakfast is very plentiful with a wide selection, from savory to sweet options, milk, tea, coffee, orange juice, etc. The breakfast room on the first floor is also quite spacious. However, a few things definitely need improvement: Cleanliness: The carpet was quite dirty and dusty, with dust spreading throughout the room. Blackout curtains are needed, as the room gets very bright early in the morning. The TV setup is very basic with few international channels, and there are no power outlets near the bed.

Overall I had a good experience at the Sylter Hof. For starters, the location is great. The building itself looks good from the outside and the lobby is decent, it is clearly a construction from the 1960’s. The inside however looks old and would need a renovation and refresh. The old carpet everywhere doesn’t help to that feeling. Rooms are ok but old too. The carpet was stained in some parts. But when the curtains were closed the room looked good. Cleanness is not a problem, shoutout to all cleaning ladies who do that difficult job the best they can. My biggest issue was with the staff at the reception desk. Two of these women, specially one blonde woman, was very rude to me and her vibes seemed off. I mean, for a customer service job, you gotta give your best service, and these women seemed impatient and irritated with my requests. (My room wasn’t cleaned the day it was supposed to be cleaned and the receptionists were defensive and were arguing about what I was saying, contradicting my point of view). They accepted begrudgingly to change my room for a new one but it wasn’t a very pleasant exchange. I clearly felt like I was bothering them even if I stayed polite the whole time. Stayed there 6 nights at the beginning of May 2026.

Old facility with poor maintenance. Roo.s are small but has everything. Bathroom are super clean. AC and Heater are perfect. Restaurant and breakfast is super, they have a great chef. Wifi is perfect. TV is boring, 90% of channels are in Dutch. Only one lift is working. We struggled at check-out because we had many bags and both lift stopped. Most of guests took staircase.
