Stayed two nights at Marriott Tang Plaza, upgraded to the Premium Deluxe Room - Orchard View, thanks to loyalty status. The upgrade was appreciated. The hotel location is excellent and the staff were pleasant. The room was clean, spacious with strong shower pressure, and a shaving razor was a nice bonus. However, several aspects feel dated and in need of renovation. There isn’t any socket in the toilet for hair dryer so the only way to blow my hair was to use the socket between the two beds. The vanity kit included two cotton buds and two pieces of cotton wool, but I would have expected facial cotton. Tech and fixtures weren't reliable: the TV doesn't support screen mirroring, some sockets were finicky, and the table clock was broken. Room not entirely soundproof, could hear room doors closing loudly in the morning. The overall vibe is very 90s, suggesting aging décor. Would I stay again? Not at the current price unless the property undergoes a full renovation with modern equipment. If Marriott refreshes the rooms, it could be a stronger contender given the location and room size.

This may have been a 5 star hotel 10 years ago, but it’s well past its prime. Everything about the place feels dated and in need of a major overhaul. Additionally, this place is NOT family friendly. Kids are an inconvenience for them as the hotel is geared more towards transiting businessmen. The club lounge is decent if you like 7-11 wine and cheap beer with drunk Americans talking about work while cussing and flipping each other off. There are only two working elevators so be prepared to wait, and then max out the weight limit as the elevator turns into a train from Mumbai during rush hour. The rooms are ok, but have a strange smell to them. Like a homeless person wearing cologne to disguise the fact they don’t bathe. The good news is you can get 2 pieces of laundry done free every day!! Which means I get my socks cleaned free of charge!! There is a cool bar on the ground floor that is also partially outside so you can watch the flow of pedestrians. If you stay late enough you will see the businessmen bring a new girlfriend back to their room.
