Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern

I was very impressed with the hotel’s excellent location and overall cleanliness. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and my first impression was very positive. Unfortunately, the level of service did not quite match the standard I would expect from a luxury hotel. When I returned from dinner in the evening and walked through the bar, I passed three members of the service team. Sadly, none of them greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. It may seem like a small detail, but in a luxury hotel, these little gestures make a significant difference and contribute greatly to the overall experience. I was also disappointed with the breakfast. The hot dishes, including the potatoes and bacon, were generally lukewarm rather than properly hot. For a hotel of this category, I would expect a higher level of attention to the quality and presentation of the breakfast. Overall, while the location and cleanliness were excellent, the service and breakfast fell short of my expectations. This left me questioning whether the overall experience truly justified the price and the positioning of the hotel as a luxury property. Just a small update: The hotel called me personally to ask about my experience and to understand my feedback in more detail. I honestly found this a very nice and thoughtful approach. We had a really positive conversation, and I appreciated that they took my comments seriously and genuinely wanted to hear my perspective. It definitely left me with a much better feeling about the hotel. Sometimes, it’s not about everything being perfect, but about how a hotel responds when something doesn’t go quite right.

I’ve been here three times already, and I’ll definitely keep coming back. The service is outstanding, the location is absolutely beautiful, and if you make a reservation in advance, you’ll usually get a great table. The staff are highly knowledgeable, especially when it comes to drinks and wine recommendations. Their suggestions are always excellent and enhance the overall dining experience. I also really appreciate how attentive the team is when it comes to food allergies and dietary requirements. They genuinely care about their guests and make you feel well looked after. I would especially like to thank my waiter, Fabio. His service was exceptional—professional, friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. He made me feel truly welcome and very well looked after throughout my visit. I honestly can’t think of any downside. My only recommendation is to make a reservation, as it’s definitely worth it.

Exceptional Swiss luxury with unforgettable Alpine views Our stay at the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern was an absolute triumph of luxury hospitality. True to the brand, the service was great from start to finish—attentive, seamless, and incredibly welcoming. The guest room itself was impeccable, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. The physical highlights of the property are the sweeping panoramic vistas. Looking out over the water to see the lake views paired with the majestic peaks of Mount Pilatus and the surrounding Swiss Alps is nothing short of magical. The amenities are equally impressive:The Wellness Area: The facilities are excellent, featuring a highly relaxing sauna and steam room. Travelers should note that the spa/wellness area is coed (unisex), which is standard for traditional European thermal relaxation but helpful to know ahead of time. The Terrace Layout: Our room featured a terrace, which was a nice element to have for the extra footprint. However, because it lacked functional outdoor furniture to really lounge on, a standard balcony would have been just as fine. If you are booking, don't feel pressured to splurge on a massive terrace over a balcony since the view is stellar regardless.This is a phenomenal, top-tier luxury base for exploring Lucerne.
