Lake Kawaguchi lies north of Mount Fuji, where the mountain is mirrored on a calm lake. On a boat tour, the shoreline forest, ridgelines and Fuji's tidy cone come into view in turn. When the air is clear, this is one of Japan's best known pictures.
The wind on deck is cool, so bring a thin jacket. Fuji visibility depends on weather, and on cloudy days the mountain may hide. The air is usually clearer in the morning.
