Rio de Janeiro Guide 2026
Rio de Janeiro is a port city in south-eastern Brazil, on the Atlantic coast and the western shore of Guanabara Bay. The Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain at the mouth of the bay are its landmarks, and the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches face the ocean. Its landscape between the mountains and the sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
