The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva

Let’s start with why you should book here: The location. I had meetings by the lake, in town, by the train station, and literally everything felt like 5minutes away by foot. Super convenient for quickly dropping off shopping bags (you can just give pass them at the door first them to leave in your room) or a quick change between outside activities. Service: it was good and attentive, although I did show up on a low season. The hotel: The halls and staircases in themselves are beautiful, but there was something missing in the actual room, some sort of spark or comfort I enjoy in other 5 star hotels, I couldn’t put my finger on it. Thankfully I was busy enough to only stay in for sleeping. Breakfast: The setting is very bright with gorgeous views and the food is fresh. You can order a large amount of food. Definitely a good way to energize for the day! Gym: Average but clean and no funky smells thankfully. The music is a bit loud, nowadays people have their own airpods, but that’s not a complaint :) I read there is complimentary access to another gym, which is cool. Spa: The credit all goes to the staff member, unfortunately I forgot her name, but she was very professional and gentle in her manners. I did a hammam + massage, which I highly recommend if you got busy with either walking/shopping or meetings.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the moment we arrived until the day we left, our stay was exceptional. This hotel truly deserves a 5-star rating, not only because of its facilities, but because of the outstanding people who work there. Every single member of the team made us feel welcome and valued. The reception staff, call center team, valet attendants, and restaurant staff were all professional, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. A special thank you to the breakfast and dinner chefs for their wonderful hospitality and the high quality of the food. We did experience one small issue with the air conditioning in our room, which was not cooling as expected. However, what impressed us most was the way the team handled the situation. They responded immediately, worked hard to resolve the problem, provided us with a fan, and even brought us refreshing drinks while we waited. Their genuine care and commitment to guest comfort turned what could have been a negative experience into a positive one. We also accidentally left some personal belongings behind after check-out. The hotel team was incredibly helpful, honest, and efficient in assisting us, which we greatly appreciated. What truly sets this hotel apart is the level of service. It's easy to provide good service when everything goes perfectly, but the real test is how a hotel responds when a guest needs assistance. The team here exceeded our expectations in every way and consistently showed professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We left with wonderful memories and look forward to returning again in the future. A well-deserved 5-star experience.

We visited the Ritz-Carlton Geneva during a family trip from Paris to Como and chose it specifically because it was our only evening in Geneva. Having previously enjoyed excellent dining experiences at the Ritz in London, we expected a memorable fine dining experience. Unfortunately, the evening fell well below those expectations. The food was, at best, average. My wife’s steak was largely fat and gristle, my son’s lobster pasta contained only two small pieces of lobster, and my veal was unremarkable. More disappointing than the food, however, was the service. After our meals were served, our waiter never returned to check whether everything was satisfactory or to offer further drinks. When I raised concerns about my wife’s steak, the waiter became dismissive and argumentative, suggesting that the quality of the steak was simply the nature of the cut and that we should have called him over sooner. He even told me that I did not understand how busy he was. Having worked in restaurants for over ten years myself, I found both the service and his attitude completely unacceptable. To their credit, a manager later spoke to my family and removed the steak from the bill. However, by that point the evening had already been spoiled. I wrote privately to the hotel to give them an opportunity to investigate and respond before leaving a public review. Unfortunately, I did not even receive an acknowledgement of my email. It is genuinely disappointing to say that, during our travels through France, Switzerland and Italy, we received warmer hospitality in small cafés than we did at the Ritz-Carlton Geneva. Based on our experience, this was nowhere near the standard we associate with the Ritz-Carlton brand.
