The Dolder Grand

We spent 3 nights at the Dolder Grand hotel (family of 6 including young grandchildren). It was absolutely wonderful. The rooms are lovely and the service is exceptional. It is close to the zoo which is perfect for children and we also went to the Lindt Chocolate Museum which was interesting and delicious (ample samples provided). The breakfast buffet has so much variety and is delicious. While we did book services at the spa, we went and used the steam room and sauna and also the ice room which was so refreshing during this hot season. Not to be missed is their exceptional art collection, including a Salvador Dali. I would definitely come back here.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is a gorgeous place up in the mountains and the Dolderbahn (shuttle) went right up to the hotel which we used to easily access the other trains and city. The spa was excellent and a really big benefit if you are looking for a hotel with a great spa! The food was sort of just ok and the service was also just ok. I thought this could be better considering this is a 5 star resort. Overall we had a nice time and the view is truly special.

Wow! A classic historic Swiss Castle combined with chique modern architecture. It’s tucked into the hills overlooking Lake Zurich, their golf course and the snow capped mountains in the distance. We stayed in their “historic section”. Nice size room however a little sparse on the furniture to our liking. There’s no place for two people, to sit and relax. One person, noooo problem. Their service from check-in, the concierge to the bar and the Saltz restaurant was impeccable. The ambiance of the hotel is laden with interesting artwork, pop culture of sorts. Their food, both at the bar and at their Saltz restaurant was delicious. Of special mention is their breakfast offerings which had an art form to it, almost too nice to eat. And finally their spa and gym facilities, located in their modern building, are next level, fresh, vibrant and very clean. The hotel is not convenient to access the city, but they do have a shuttle service. If you want an elegant escape, DON’T look any farther :)
