Superb. The Widder Hotel is one of those rare institutions that pays close attention to detail and operates at standards that go far beyond conventional luxury. I have been a regular guest here for several years, and what consistently sets Widder apart is the coherence of the experience - service, gastronomy and atmosphere - all work together at an exceptionally high level, without any sense of showmanship or excess. The culinary side is particularly impressive. The two-Michelin-star Widder Restaurant, led by Stefan Heilemann, is outstanding, and the fact that breakfast is served in the very same restaurant is a clear statement: there are no compromises here, even at the start of the day. Breakfast at Widder is truly exceptional! At the same time, AuGust, under Tino Staub, offers a more relaxed but equally excellent culinary experience and is by no means a secondary option. The quality and thoughtfulness are evident throughout. Service is another defining strength. Having at least three remarkable concierges - Katharina, Christian, and Marco - all with Les Clefs d'Or, is extremely rare and speaks volumes about the hotel’s commitment to professionalism, experience, and genuine hospitality. Finally, the Widder Bar deserves special mention - an extraordinary whisky collection and award-winning bartenders make it a destination in its own right, well beyond the context of a hotel bar. Widder is a hotel that values substance over spectacle. After years as a returning guest, it remains one of the most consistently impressive and thoughtfully run hotels I know.

I had an exceptionally great stay at the Widder. Everyone I interacted with was fantastic, the room was beautiful and immaculate, and the location could not be more convenient. As an example of the level of service, I asked some questions about a train trip and the concierge asked what train I was taking. Hearing it was a very early train, he lamented that I would miss breakfast and asked if I wanted a meal packed to go. The next morning a sack was waiting for me with an outstanding meal matched to my preferences. Beyond this example, everyone seemed to be looking for ways to make me more comfortable throughout my stay. I’ll definitely be back.

We were supposed to stay at the Burgenstock Alpine Resort, but the US decided to hold peace talks there with Iran. We had to relocate to the Widder to salvage our vacation. They were extremely accommodating. In the end the peace talks never happened, so things were changed for no reason, but our stay at the Widder has been fantastic.
