Hampton Inn & Suites Austin-Downtown/Convention Center

Excellent hotel, service, breakfast and vibe. This has become one of our favorite hotels. The staff are very professional and gracious to the customers. We want to give a special shout out to Peyton who went above and beyond to assist us when our travel plans needed to be modified. He is an excellent service provider and we hope his bosses see this and know how lucky they are to have him. The breakfast was scrumptious and accomidations are clean, spacious and very well taken care of. Highly recommend.

Upon arriving at the hotel the property seemed nice and the staff seemed friendly. I got out my vehicle to check into to the hotel, they were kind enough to let us check in early. The valet asked for my keys and my wife and I headed up to the room. As we wanted to enjoy Barton Springs, we dropped our stuff and quickly headed back out to catch an uber to the springs. After hiking and swimming, it wasn't until we had to relieve ourselves from our time on the road that we quickly learned the toilet did not flush. After discovering this post toilet use, it required having maintenance come in and not only plunge, but snake the drain. Not the best vibes for your wife who is trying to shower on her birthday trip after being outside all day. After the toilet gets solved, shout out to maintenance, my wife asks me to get her some ice. After checking my floor, the floor above, and the floor below me, we are told that we need to go on a hunt for ice until the front desk representative eventually brings some to the room. At this point we are tired from traveling, adventuring, waiting on toilets to flush, and hunting down ice. I just want to grab something out my car really quick. I go to the valet stand, and after shift change the new employees initially tell me that me and my car are not in the system. Apparently whoever took my keys did not complete the check in processes for my car so it took them a minute to locate it. We just wanted to trust a well known brand for a one night stay and it turned out to be the wrong choice for us given the combined issues vs overall experience. The team tried to say sorry and provide context and explanations but it doesn't change my wife and I will never be back to this specific property if we can help it. Could have been great, but fell short where and when it was the most impactful for our specific travel experience. Would have been great if toilet, ice and valet were not issues on my wife's birthday.
