Quality Inn On Historic Route 66

I was happy with most everything for the price. Room was decent, though housekeeping leaves doors open while they work and allows flies in. But thats not a deal breaker. Water pressure was fine. The pool and inner courtyard were very nice. My only gripe was with one of the maintenance workers. While washing clothes, the coin reader for the dryer stopped working. I'm familiar with these units, so I know that they can be problematic. Some of them can be bypassed to use the machine anyway (if you know what you're doing). I did NOT mention this, because I wasn't sure if this one was bypassable. Anyway, this guy tells me the machine is out of order. I say, okay, so what should I do about these 2 wet loads? He tells me I ought to take them up to the local laundromat to dry them. I say, will you reimburse me for the coins and gas to get there, for the inconvenience? He tells me, its not an inconcvenience, but a COURTESY that I'm able to wash my clothes there at all. And at this point... I'm a bit peeved, because he refuses to acknowledge anything I am saying. Tells me I need to go to the front desk. I do, after getting my 2 dollars in quarters back. I ask the front desk if they'd do me a solid and allow me to dry my clothes wherever they do bedding. Had they said no, I'd be upset, but I could live with it. But she said it wasn't a problem at all! But of course, the same man is the keyholder. The irony. He was disgruntled and rude the whole way. My wife was on the phone ear hustling and she can confirm that his attitude was uncalled for. Accused me of complaining for a free night and all this other stuff. I didn't ask for a free night stay or any of that. I only asked for a bit of decency. Functional dryer 20ft away, and he wanted to send me to the laundromat for HIS convenience?! Where was the hospitality? Oh, wait, my bad! This is Barstow. I should've expected less for my 900$, huh? I spoke with the front desk again later that night. Told them he's not good representation for the hotel. I'm doing work for the local school district and intended to stay there for a few weeks. But after that encounter, I opted for a cheap abnb. I'm not trying to hurt the hotel. 99% of the staff was welcoming and hospitable, but this little goatee having goblin cost you guys an easy few grand. I know the service industry can be a thankless thing, but I put my money where my mouth is, because I've been there. No one should expect treatment like that where they spend their hard-earned money. If that guy lives and works there, I hope he gets fired.

i loved this place. the rooms are very basic. but really clean and comfortable. one thing that sometimes doesn’t work with a budget motel is the AC or the TV but both worked totally fine. even the fridge worked well! all staff were super nice. and the free complete breakfast that you could even get to go was awesome and actually pretty solid. all-in-all super good price, complimentary food, and nice folks. highly recommend for an affordable stay in barstow.

Stop looking &stay here. Room is cheap, clean & spacious, bed is comfortable, staff is friendly, grass courtyard makes a nice environment. What really shines is the breakfast; its not frozen omelets &gas station muffins, it's a real cooked to order meal in the attached restaurant. So you can knock tomorrow's breakfast diner bill off the already competitive price. I saved this location in my Maps so I know where to stay next time I'm passing through.
