Pergola Hotel & Spa

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing family stay with our 2-year-old son. The staff were outstanding—always smiling, friendly and ready to help, especially reception, housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant and pool bar staff. Breakfast was excellent with freshly cooked eggs, fruit, pastries and plenty of choice. The play area next to the restaurant was perfect for families. Our room was spacious with a king-size bed, baby cot, kitchenette, balcony and daily cleaning. The hotel is very stroller-friendly and close to Popeye Village, the Aquarium and Mellieħa centre. Pools were fantastic and our son loved them all. The snack bar was quick, cocktails were great and the private beach offer was a nice bonus. We had an AC issue after changing rooms due to the hotel being fully booked, but maintenance responded immediately with portable AC units, offered another room and compensated us, showing excellent customer care. Highly recommended for families visiting Malta!

Unfortunately, our holiday got off to a very frustrating start. Our room on the 5th floor was extremely hot and humid, with a strong smell of damp/mildew. The air conditioning was not working effectively, and despite reporting this to reception, we were left waiting for maintenance. We eventually had to insist on being moved to another room as we were feeling unwell. The replacement room was better, although the air conditioning was still slow to cool and automatically switches off whenever the balcony or main door is opened. The hotel itself is very warm, with no air conditioning in the narrow hallways, stairwells or small, slow elevators. The showers also have a poor design and caused the bathroom floor to flood when used. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were extremely cold, and the outdoor pools closed earlier than advertised. On the positive side, the Cave Bar served delicious food and cocktails with great service, the breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and was very good, and the spa was lovely and relaxing. The outdoor pool areas were also clean and well maintained. Overall, while there were some positives, the issues with our room, air conditioning and general facilities made the stay disappointing. If returning to Malta, I would choose to stay elsewhere.

The hotel is so cute and welcoming. Perfect for enjoying a good rest or pool after a whole day of exploring Malta. Dinner and breakfast are tasty and have a variety of dishes for every taste. The kids playroom is mostly for toddlers, bigger kids eill find it small and boring. The outdoor pool is good, with a great view. Kids outdoor pool is very small, again - toddlers or smaller kids. Indoor pool is fine for no more that 10-15 people. The spa area is clean and pleasant. Service is awesome. All people from the staff were very welcoming, helpful and warm overall. They made our stay a lot more enjoyable than it already was. Reception can call for airport transfer and there is a midnight snack and coffee area for late/early birds. 🙂 I'd recommend packing flip-flops/slippers for the pools, cause they are not included in the room. Last thing - it is a bit far from Valleta, so be mindful of the busses time schedules if you use them.
